Frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from the hardened resin produced by the Boswellia carteri tree. It has been considered a valuable and precious oil since ancient time. Pictorial evidence from the tombs of the Pharaohs shows that Frankincense oil has been used since 1500 BC.

Frankincense essential oil is a deeply calming oil. It can help to slow down and deepen the breathing, and is often used during meditation and prayer to focus and still the mind. It is therefore an ideal aromatherapy oil for people who cannot 'switch off' or for chronic worriers. Frankincense oil is also very helpful for mature or damaged skin.

Skin:	Frankincense essential oil has a rejuvenating, balancing and healing action on the skin. It is considered to be one of the best essential oils for mature skin as it helps to revitalise skin tone and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Try vapourising Frankincense with Orange and Myrrh essential oils at Christmas time, to create a warm and inviting festive atmosphere.

Rejuvenating Night Cream

Mix 50ml Base Formula Moisturising Cream with 5ml Vitamin E Oil, 5 drops Lavender essential oil, 3 drops Neroli, 3 drops Frankincense and 3 drops Rose. Mix well and use as a night cream.

Comforting Bedtime Bath Salts

Take 250ml Dead Sea Salt (enough for 5 baths) and add 20 drops Orange essential oil, 10 drops Marjoram, 5 drops Frankincense and 2 drops Neroli.

Antidepressant Massage Blend

Try regular massage with 25ml Sweet Almond Oil, 5ml St John's Wort, 2 drops Neroli, 2 Jasmine, 4 Frankincense and 6 Geranium. This blend is also great for a soothing aromatic bath - combine with 15ml of Bath Oil and add to the bath once water has run.
