Eucalyptus Dives var. Type essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and twigs of the Eucalyptus dives tree (also known as broad-leafed peppermint, blue peppermint and menthol-scented gum). The tree is native to south-east Australia and Tasmania but is also grown commercially in South Africa.

Eucalyptus Dives essential oil is clear to pale yellow in colour and has a fresh, camphoraceous aroma with lovely woody, peppermint undertones. Many people prefer this oil’s aroma as it is softer, more earthy and less penetrating than other varieties of Eucalyptus oil. It also contains less 1,8 cineole / Eucalyptol (1-2%) than the other oils, making it more suitable for topical application.

Although gentler in aroma and action, Eucalyptus Dives possesses the same therapeutic benefits as other Eucalyptus oils. It is thought to have the following properties: analgesic, antineuralgic, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, balsamic, cicatrisant, decongestant, deodorant, depurative, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, hypoglycaemic, parasiticide, prophylactic, rubefacient, stimulant, vermifuge, vulnerary.

The oil is most commonly used in aromatherapy for fighting infection and relieving respiratory problems, aches, pains and nervous exhaustion.

Please note there are two types of Eucalyptus Dives. We sell E. dives var. Type which is rich in piperitone. The other variety is E. dives var. C. which is rich in cineole.
