Geranium (Bourbon) essential oil comes from the island, and former french colony, of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean. The island was formerly known as Île de Bourbon, which is where the name comes from.

Geranium (Bourbon) essential oil is produced from the 'Rose' cultivar. It has a pronounced green, leafy-rose scent. Often more lemony and rosy than other varieties of Geranium oil, with a sweet, herbaceous note.

Although it has the same therapeutic properties as other types of Geranium oil, Geranium (Bourbon) is preferred by many aromatherapists because of it superior fragrance and because it blends so well with a vast array of other aromatherapy oils.

Mood Enhancing Day Time Spritz

Mix 150ml Orange Flower Hydrolat, 20 drops Geranium, 30 drops Bergamot and 15 drops Ylang Ylang.

Balancing Massage Oil (for hormones and mood)

Blend 30ml Sweet Almond Oil with 4 drops Geranium, 2 drops Neroli and 6 drops Bergamot.

Winter Blues Diffuser Blend

Diffuse 2 drops Geranium, 2 drops White Camphor and 2 drops Bergamot.

Pre-menstrual Bloating Massage Oil

Blend 30ml Sweet Almond oil with 5 drops each of Geranium, Fennel and Sweet Orange. Massage into the body in an upwards direction towards the heart. For the tummy, massage in a clockwise direction.

Natural Insect Repellent Gel

Mix 15ml Aloe Vera & Seaweed Gel with 2 drops each of Geranium and Citronella.

Facial Cleansing Oil

Blend 50ml Jojoba oil with 2 drops each of Geranium and Palmarosa. Massage into the face and neck and remove with a warm, damp cloth. Use instead of your normal cleansing lotion.

Facial Oil for Mature Skin

Mix 40ml Apricot Kernel Oil, 10ml Jojoba Oil, 10ml Raspberry Seed Oil, 8 drops Geranium, 8 drops Lavender, 6 drops Frankincense, 2 drops Neroli and 2 drops Rose.

Detoxifying Body Scrub

Mix 3 teaspoons of warmed Extra Virgin Coconut Butter with 1 tsp finely ground Dead Sea Salt, 1 tsp Kaolin Clay, 4 drops Geranium, 2 drops Lime and 2 drops Fennel. Massage into the skin with a gentle circular motion before rinsing off.
