Ginger essential oil has a strong, fresh, spicy, woody aroma with lemony undertones. Ginger oil is warming, comforting and ideal for soothing the mind and counteracting fatigue. It is also used in aromatherapy massage oils for the joints and muscles.

Ginger essential oil is steam-distilled from the unpeeled dried ground roots of the Zingiber officinale plant which is native to southern Asia, China, India and Java. Ginger has been used extensively for centuries for both culinary and medicinal purposes and many cultures actually regard it as a sacred spice that has a positive influence on both the mind and body.

In modern aromatherapy Ginger essential oil is renowned as a warm and fortifying aromatherapy oil that is ideal for soothing the mind and counteracting fatigue. Aromatherapists also commonly use Ginger oil in the winter time, or in therapeutic massage oils for the joints and muscles.

Safety Note:
Use sparingly - use a maximum of 3 drops in the bath and 2% dilution for massage. Do not use on sensitive skin.

Ginger essential oil has a stimulating effect on the digestive system and can be useful for poor digestion and flatulence. It is also useful for treating nausea and vomiting, including travel sickness, and morning sickness. It is popular for winter aromatherapy treatments, helping to prevent chills, stimulate the circulation and warm the extremities. It can also help to relieve the symptoms of colds and bronchitis.
