Tea Tree essential oil is one of the most widely used oils within modern aromatherapy. It has quite a strong smell and is often blended with Lavender to sweeten the scent. Tea Tree oil has a particular affinity with the skin and immune system, owing to its antiseptic and anti-microbial properties. It is also one of the few essential oils that can be applied to the skin neat.

Origin:	The swampy flood-prone marshlands in the subtropical, coastal areas of northeastern New South Wales and southeastern Queensland, Australia, provide the perfect climate and growing conditions for Tea Trees (also called Paper Bark Trees). Feathery, bright green leaves cover the branches of the plants, which at maturity rarely reach over twenty feet in height. Of the 300 different species of Tea Tree plants, one variety, Melaleuca Alternifolia, produces the therapeutic Tea Tree essential oil that is most commonly used in aromatherapy. The name Tea Tree is derived from the Australian Aborigines who used to brew the leaves of the tree into a herbal tea.
Skin:	Tea Tree essential oil can help to restore and support healthy skin. It is beneficial for a wide range of skin problems including acne, blemishes, athletes foot, cold sores, blisters, insect bites, cuts, infected wounds, warts and shingles. It is also useful for dandruff and for treating and preventing head lice.
Mind:	Tea Tree oil is strengthening and invigorating for the mind and body. It can help to inspire confidence and cleanse the mind of negative thoughts.
Body:	Tea Tree is one of the most medicinal essential oils and is excellent for stimulating the immune system and preventing the spread of infection. It is particularly beneficial for fighting colds, flu, respiratory infections and urinary/genital infections such as cystitis and thrush. Can also be used to help reduce a fever.
