Limes originated in Asia but are now cultivated in most warm countries, especially Italy, the West Indies and the Americas. It is renowned in folklore for its ability to cleanse, purify and renew the spirit.

Lime essential oil is expressed from the peel of the nearly ripe fruit and is pale yellow to green in colour, with a clean, light refreshing scent, full of uplifting, sharp, zesty top notes.

Lime essential oil is psychologically refreshing and uplifting and can help to relieve stress-related fatigue, apathy and depression. It is useful for detoxifying, clearing congested skin and for relieving pain in the joints and muscles. Lime also has an affinity with the immune system making it a beneficial essential oil to have around when colds and flu strike.
