Wheatgerm (Unrefined) Organic Carrier Oil (100ml)

Organic Wheatgerm Oil (Triticum vulgare) is an unrefined oil that is obtained from the germ of the wheat kernel.

Wheatgerm oil is extremely beneficial for the skin. It is rich in protein, lecithin, essential fatty acids and Vitamins A, D and E which help to protect and condition the skin. It also has antioxidant properties which help protect the skin from damaging free radicals – one of the main causes of premature ageing. It is particularly beneficial for mature, dry, damaged and out of condition skin. Its soothing, healing properties are also good for dry skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. It can also be used to help reduce the appearance of scars and is often recommended during pregnancy to help prevent stretch marks.

The oil has a distinctive ‘bread-like’ odour which can dominate and spoil the aroma of certain essential oils (particularly floral oils). We therefore recommend that it is diluted with another base oil such as Evening Primrose or Borage Seed Oil at 5-10%. It is worth noting that Wheatgerm can act as a natural product preservative due its high levels of Vitamin E. This is fine if the product is for home/self use however if it is for wider/commercial use we would always recommend using Vitamin E oil for this purpose.
